What is Crabgrass?
Crabgrass is a grass, but not one of the desirable types. You can tell the difference between it and other grasses because it has dark green leaves, which are about 1/3 inch across and can be up to 5 inches in length. Properly fertilizing and watering your lawn will help ensure grass growth and help prevent crabgrass.
Maintaining a Healthy Lawn
Keeping your lawn long and think can help prevent against crabgrass. If your lawn is dry and/or unhealthy, crabgrass can take hold and overtake your yard. For optimal results, let your grass grow to about 2 ½ inches long.
