Meet Our Team

team-coming-soon
Gary Anderson
Owner/President

With nearly four decades since founding Gary Anderson Landscaping, Gary turned a passion for people into a career of creating stunning outdoor spaces. For him, landscaping is about more than just plants and hardscapes—it’s about the thousands of personal relationships he’s built with clients across Minnesota and Wisconsin. From refreshing existing gardens to managing $200k+ new construction transformations, he loves that every project brings a fresh set of challenges to keep things interesting. His work ethic started early, caddying at age 10 and flipping burgers for $2.90 an hour at 15 years old. Today, when he’s not designing landscapes (to the beat of “Born to Run”), you can find him at his lake home with family and friends. If there’s a fishing pole in his hand and/or a steak and shrimp dinner on the horizon, you can bet he’s a happy man!

Katie Wells
Katie Wells
Office Manager

Meet Katie – our dedicated Office Manager and the glue that holds Gary Anderson Landscaping together. With 13 years of experience on the team, Katie turned her early dream of working in a professional office environment into a long-term career. She’s come a long way from her very first job as a dishwasher at Space Aliens. Today, she manages the complexities of our daily operations with precision—usually with her faithful sidekick and “office dog,” Molly, by her side. When she isn’t keeping us organized, you can find Katie competing on the volleyball court, spending quality time with family and friends or cheering on the Minnesota Wild and Timberwolves.

Jeremy Elbert
Jeremy Elbert
Director of Operations

While he is currently in his fourth year as Director of Operations, his history with Gary Anderson Landscaping spans over a decade, giving him a deep-rooted understanding of its mission and evolution. Jeremy thrives on the fact that he never has to do the exact same thing twice. Throughout his career, he has sought out diverse environments and unique challenges, building a reputation for adaptability and creative problem-solving. Jeremy’s professional journey began in the fields of his local community, working on various neighborhood farms—a first job that instilled in him a lifelong work ethic and a “roll up your sleeves” attitude. When he isn’t streamlining operations, Jeremy is likely off the grid. He spends his weekends camping and exploring the outdoors with his wife and two daughters. A true pizza enthusiast, Jeremy jokes that if he could eat it for every meal, he probably would!

Corbin Stassen
Assistant Operations Manager

Meet Corbin – a seasoned pro at Gary Anderson Landscaping with over 15 years of experience under his belt. What keeps him passionate about his craft is the unique ability to transform raw outdoor spaces into functional, beautiful landscapes that clients can actually use and enjoy. His hardworking roots go all the way back to his first job as a grocery store cart pusher, but these days, he’s more likely to be found steering a boat than a line of carts. When he’s off the clock, Corbin is all about the outdoors—usually fishing or soaking up quality time with his wife and two kids. If you ever find him at the dinner table, there’s a very high probability he’s eating pizza (his undisputed “forever” food).

Mitch Mahr
Landscape Design/Sales Manager

Whether he’s behind the controls of an excavator, designing the perfect backyard retreat or building a Hot Wheels track with his son [while listening to “Excavator (Techno Version)”] Mitch is at his best when he’s creating. Now in his third season at Gary Anderson Landscaping, simply give him your project ideas and he’ll create a landscape that makes the neighbors jealous. Above all, he is a family man. He’s a proud dad to a “future operator” son and is currently preparing for the arrival of a daughter (and a lot more pink in his life). Whether it’s a day at Monster Jam or a quiet off-season afternoon at home, he works hard during the season to ensure his most important “long-term project”—his family—gets his full attention.

Bryce Schneider
Bryce Schneider
Landscape Design/Sales

With over a decade of experience in the landscaping industry, Bryce joined the Gary Anderson Landscaping team four years ago. His passion for the craft began at age 13, helping a friend’s family business and discovering a love for creating beautiful, functional outdoor spaces that homeowners can enjoy every day. When he isn’t transforming backyards, you can find him hiking, hunting, or grabbing sushi with friends. At home, he enjoys relaxing with his fiancé and their two cats—likely while debating if dinner should be pizza, beef stroganoff, or pesto shrimp linguini.

Auburn Waloway
Auburn Waloway
Landscape Design/Sales

Drawing on a childhood spent in her grandmother’s dairy farm gardens; Auburn has always had a deep-rooted appreciation for the green industry. After initially studying architecture, she transitioned her design eye to the outdoors, earning four AAS degrees in Horticulture, Forestry, Landscape Design, and Greenhouse Management from Hennepin Technical College. Now in her second year with Gary Anderson Landscaping, Auburn combines technical expertise with a lifelong passion for plants. When she’s not designing for her clients, she’s likely out enjoying nature, or recharging at home with her boyfriend, three cats, guinea pig (and baking sweet treats for the office)!

Landscape Foreman

Chris is the Landscape Foreman at Gary Anderson Landscaping, where he has spent the last decade perfecting his craft. He originally got his start as a maintenance technician, building a solid foundation of expertise from the ground up. When he’s not leading a crew and transforming outdoor spaces, Chris is likely outdoors with his daughter – fishing, swimming, or hiking.

Jack Micek
Landscape Foreman

Meet Jack; a dedicated Landscape Foreman who has spent the last 4 years honing his craft with the team at Gary Anderson Landscaping. Jack was originally drawn to the industry by the opportunity to work outdoors in the fresh air and the constant variety that landscaping offers—no two days on the job are ever the same. Whether he’s managing a crew or perfecting a site, he thrives on the hands-on nature of the work. When he’s off the clock, you’ll likely find Jack fishing or making the most of his downtime with friends and family. And if he’s picking the menu? It’s a medium-rare ribeye steak, every time.

Isaac Stoll
Isaac Stoll
Landscape Foreman

Isaac’s passion for the outdoors started early, helping his father and grandfathers with yard work as a kid. What began as a perfect college summer job has turned into a career; this year marks his seventh season with Gary Anderson Landscaping. A former greenskeeper at Majestic Oaks Golf Course, he brings a sharp eye for detail to every project. When he’s not on a job site, Isaac is likely hiking, camping, or cheering on the Twins and Timberwolves.

Derrick Hagen
Assistant Landscape Foreman

Derrick first entered the landscaping field while working his way through college at his uncle’s firm, where he fell in love with the process of completely transforming a property. Now in his third year with Gary Anderson Landscaping, he brings that same passion for seeing projects through from start to finish. A former gas station cashier, Derrick knows the value of hard work and great service. When the workday is done, you can likely find him recharging and relaxing at home with some country music on and a burger on the grill.

team-coming-soon
Alphonso Gbalea
Assistant Landscape Foreman

Alphonso has been a member of the team for five years, bringing a strong work ethic that started with his very first job at Popeye’s when he was just 15 years old. What drew him to the landscaping field was a simple, honest preference: he’d much rather be working under the open sky than stuck behind a desk indoors. When he isn’t on-site, Alphonso is a dedicated family man who loves spending his weekends hanging out with friends and family—usually with his dog by his side. A fan of the beach and all things sweet, he has a lifelong loyalty to Chicken Alfredo. If you ever hear “Black Betty” by Ram Jam playing, you’ll know Alphonso has arrived!

Jacob Ailabouni
Jacob Ailabouni
Assistant Landscape Foreman

Jacob has been a vital part of the Gary Anderson Landscaping team for the past year. Driven by a love for physical labor and the great outdoors, Jacob is happiest when he’s working with his favorite tool—the flat shovel—to get the job done right. Jacob’s first taste of the industry was digging post holes for a family friend. When he’s not on-site, you can find him under the hood of a car, hitting the bowling lanes, or heading to the zoo. He’s a fan of the cult classic Pootie Tang, dreams of one day meeting Mel Gibson, and firmly believes there’s no meal better than his mom’s spaghetti.
